Oki Data Americas, Inc., has unveiled a new line in the MICROLINE
(ML) series of impact printers, called the ML186 series. The new ML186
line offers end users exceptional reliability in a compact footprint
with the backing of a 3-year standard warranty. The ML 186 continues the
growth of the successful and acclaimed OKI Microline family of products.
OKI consistently strives to bolster its reputation as the impact
printer authority by bringing new offerings to the marketplace. OKI is
currently the dominant player in the SIDM market, owning a 65% share of
the 9-pin market and 55% of the 9-pin and 24-pin market overall
according to the Q4'03 IDC Quarterly Tracker.
Solid Reliability and Compact Performance
The OKI ML186 is designed to thrive in any environment and delivers
reliability at 20,000 hours MTBF. According to recent research from
analyst group IDC, reliability is the most important quality end users
look for in an Impact printer.
Adding to its long-term reliability, the product also features a
dependable space motor ribbon connection and a robust internal power
supply with an upgraded power capacity to maximize the life of
components. The ML186 also boasts a fast 375 cps output that is 25%
faster than its predecessor the ML184T, and up to 11% faster than other
competitive models in the category.
Additionally, the ML186 offers improved emulation support with
co-resident IBM, Epson and OKI Microline emulations in one platform. And
for customers looking to upgrade from previous OKI Microline products,
the new printers offers the same footprint, ribbon and accessories as
its predecessor the ML184T, setting up an effortless migration path for
the end user.
Carl Taylor, marketing manager for Impact Printers at Oki Data
notes, "Strong reliability is the foundation of our entire
Microline series of printers and our new ML186 line continues and even
improves on our tradition of "Tank-Tough" printers our
customers know will last. When you combine the solid reliability with
faster print speed, great features and unrivaled warranty of the ML186,
we've created the ideal Impact printer solution for any market that
requires a compact printer for forms processing or report
