Global Internetworking, Inc., Vienna, Virginia, a facilities-
neutral telecom carrier, has roll-outed a new international data
transport pricing and provisioning solution that dramatically expands
access of U.S. telecom service providers to the international telecom
marketplace while also giving foreign telecom providers the ability to
obtain real-time, end-to-end price quotes to any U.S. business premise.
The new solution, version 4.0, is a major enhancement to
pop2pop.com, Global's on-line pricing and quote management portal
for private-line circuits within the U.S., and, with this announcement,
adds more than 40 countries and 800 foreign metro markets. It is the
first to provide telecom industry professionals with on-line, real-time
data transport price quotes between some 40 foreign telecom markets and
any location in the U.S. It integrates Global Internetworking's
proprietary database of over 1,400 U.S. facilities based carriers and
over 540,000 U.S. points-of-presence with the network data from more
than 40 countries and 800 foreign metro markets.
"Over the past twelve months, we have seen a dramatic increase
in demand for international data transport services from our
customers," said Todd Vecchio, Global Internetworking's EVP of
Sales. "They asked us to streamline their ability to quickly price
out international private line circuits for their end-users, regardless
of where they are located in the U.S. In parallel, foreign carriers have
asked us to help them connect their major Points-of-Presence with the
U.S. locations of their key customers."
Vecchio said: "The new version 4.0 of pop2pop.com is the first
solution that seamlessly integrates international and U.S. network
information and pricing and provides international pricing in seconds,
not days or weeks. We believe it will save money, time and productivity
for telecom professionals around the world."
Demand is being driven by the worldwide adoption of broadband data
communications. According to the FCC October 2003 report Broadband
Internet Access in OECD Countries, international broadband usage in
developed countries increased by 83 percent between 2001 and 2002.
According to Global Internetworking, the international edition of
pop2pop.com addresses a real need for telecom carriers that want to
expand outside their country-markets.
Judy Reed Smith, CEO of Atlantic-ACM, an independent telecom
consultancy and industry analyst, said: "Up to now, international
private line services have been the domain of the top 50 global telecom
carriers. Solutions like pop2pop.com should help open up opportunities
for both U.S. and overseas carriers to sell their capacity."
