COMPANHIA DE BEBIDAS DAS AMERICAS (AMBEV), a Brazil brewer, paid US$36 million for 80% and control of Ecuador's Cerveceria SurAmericana. The Guayaquil brewer controls 6% of its domestic market, although AmBev estimates it could supply 30%. AmBev says its purchase price includes spending to restructure the Ecuadoran company's debt.
