Brazil's Economic Rights Secretariat (SED) launched an investigation into 10 of the country's leading cement producers, including Votorantim, Camargo Correa, Lafarge, Holcim, Soeicom, Itambe, CP Cimento, Grupo Nassau, Cimpor and Ciplan. The companies are being accused of having conspired to reduce the supply of cement to the country's concrete makers, influencing market prices. If found guilty, the cement companies could be fined as much as US$825 million.
