Editors: At Georgia's Rome News-Tribune, Charlotte Atkins has
been named editor; previously she had been metro editor of the Columbus
Ledger-Enquirer. A Rome native, earlier Atkins spent a decade at
Florida's Vero Beach Press-Journal and six years at
California's Monterey County Herald. ... At Ohio's Ashland
Times-Gazette, Ted Daniels has been named editor and general manager;
previously he was the paper's editor. Daniels, a native of Ashland
County, had a 23-year career at the Indianapolis Star including five
years as managing editor -- before he went to the Times-Gazette in
2002. ...
Front office: At the Times of Northwest Indiana, Varinda Missett
has been named advertising director; previously she was classified
manager at the North County Times of Escondido, Calif. (both are Lee
papers). A 14-year industry veteran, Missett started selling
advertising for West Coast Publishers and in 1998 went to the Blade
Citizen, which was soon renamed the North County Times. She was named
classified manager in 2000. ... At the Daily World in Aberdeen, Wash.,
Beth Whisenhunt Brodhead has been named advertising director;
previously she was classified manager. Brodhead has been with the paper
