Fujitsu Computer Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu
Limited, is supporting Atheros Communications' Super AG and Super G
technology in six wireless-enabled notebook computer models and two
Tablet PC models in the North American market.
These notebook and Tablet PC models incorporate Atheros 802.11a/b/g
or 802.11b/g WLAN solutions. By providing an easy software upgrade for
Atheros' Super AG and Super G performance-boosting capabilities,
Fujitsu is providing its customers with advanced wireless networking
features that deliver the highest wireless performance available on the
market today, as measured by end-user throughput and range.
Fujitsu is offering Atheros Super AG technology in its LifeBook
series of notebooks including the LifeBook S7010D, LifeBook N5010,
LifeBook P7010D and LifeBook B3010D notebooks and in its Stylistic
ST5010D and ST5011D Tablet PCs. The notebook models from Fujitsu that
are Super G capable include the LifeBook P5020D, and the LifeBook S2020
notebooks. Atheros 802.11a/b/g and 802.11b/g wireless LAN chipsets
provide optimal compatibility with 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11a
networks. All of these new Fujitsu models will have Atheros brand
stickers to help users identify the feature set capabilities of the PC.
The wide array of complementary Super AG and Super G networking
products will enable Fujitsu customers to enjoy the performance
advantages of the technology in their own home or business wireless
networks.
"We're pleased that Fujitsu is enabling Atheros Super AG
and Super G technology in their notebook and Tablet PCs," said
Colin Macnab, vice president of marketing and business development of
Atheros Communications. "These technologies offer the best
throughput allowing customers to meet the requirements for a wide range
of mobile computing applications."
Atheros Super AG and Super G technology offers a combination of
performance-enhancement features -- packet bursting, fast frames, data
compression, and dynamic turbo -- that improve the throughput and range
of wireless networking products. This feature set enables end-user
throughput of more than 60 Mbps for typical data, up to three times
higher than traditional 802.11g networks.
Fujitsu LifeBook notebooks and Stylistic Tablet PCs enabled with
Atheros 802.11a/b/g technology are available now and can be purchased
through the Fujitsu web site or select retail channels.
