The skies above Brazil are apparently getting a little busier. Gol Linhas Aereas, a Brazilian discount airliner, agreed to buy 43 jets from U.S. aerospace company Boeing in a deal worth up to US$2.70 billion. Fifteen of the 737-800 series planes will be delivered between 2007 and 2009. The three-year-old company, which controls 23% of the Brazilian airline market, is expanding its fleet due to healthy growth rates. In 2003, the airline posted sales of $482.5 million, which is 152% more than it sold in 2002. Profits in 2003 were $60.4 million, 505% more than profits earned in 2002.
