WIDESPREAD ADOPTION OF QUALCOMM'S MSM6150/MSM6550 CHIPSETS.

QUALCOMM Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM), San Diego, a pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, has announced that more than 30 handset designs are currently under development based on QUALCOMM's first commercially available Enhanced Platform chipset -- the Mobile Station Modem(TM) (MSM(TM)) MSM6150(TM) and MSM6550(TM) chipset solutions. The MSM6150 and MSM6550 chipsets extend the capabilities of 3G wireless multimedia with higher processing capacity and lower power consumption to help drive demand for next-generation wireless multimedia applications and devices. Devices based on the MSM6150 or MSM6550 chipsets will deliver revenue-generating multimedia services on large, high-resolution QVGA screens -- allowing dynamic viewing of wireless interactive 3D gaming, video streaming and video telephony and images from integrated digital still cameras of up to 4.0 megapixel resolution. Initial handsets based on the MSM6150 and MSM6550 chipset solutions will target advanced wireless multimedia users in Japan, Korea and North America.

Leading global manufacturers are developing wireless devices based on QUALCOMM's MSM6150 and MSM6550 chipset solutions for use in CDMA2000 1X and 1xEV-DO high data rate networks. Commercial devices based on these chipsets are expected to hit the market starting in mid 2005.

"QUALCOMM's MSM6150 and MSM6550 chipsets enable sleek, in-demand 3G CDMA wireless multimedia devices with large, high-resolution QVGA screens that deliver on our promise of providing the industry with richer, more compelling multimedia capabilities," said Luis Pineda, vice president of marketing and product management for QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies. "All Enhanced Multimedia chipsets promote increased airtime usage with integrated technologies that support high-speed video streaming, CD-quality audio downloads and interactive 3D gaming -- creating higher revenue-generating opportunities for our operator partners."

The MSM6150 and MSM6550 chipsets are part of QUALCOMM's Enhanced Multimedia Platform, which includes the MSM6275(TM), MSM6280(TM), MSM6700(TM) and MSM6800(TM) solutions -- integrated chipsets with support for all major air interfaces that deliver increased processing capacity and lower power consumption to drive the global demand for 3G enhanced-multimedia products and services.

The Enhanced Multimedia Platform solutions support QUALCOMM's Launchpad(TM) suite of advanced multimedia, connectivity, position location, user interface and removable storage functionality, including QUALCOMM's gpsOne(R) solution, the world's most broadly deployed assisted-GPS handset technology.

The Enhanced Multimedia Platform chipsets also support QUALCOMM's BREW(R) system, which enables the development and monetization of advanced applications and content, allowing operators and OEMs to differentiate their products and services and increase revenues. QUALCOMM's chipsets are also compatible with the Java(TM) runtime environment; J2ME(TM) can be built entirely on the chipset as an extension to the BREW solution.

QUALCOMM Incorporated is a leader in developing and delivering innovative digital wireless communications products and services based on the company's CDMA digital technology. Headquartered in San Diego, Calif., QUALCOMM is included in the S&P 500 Index and is a 2003 FORTUNE 500(R) company traded on The Nasdaq Stock Market(R) under the ticker symbol QCOM.
