Forty percent of our shoppers like the idea of the Sears/Kmart merger, but only 24 percent think they'll shop at either store any more because of it. What would get them to shop more at what one of our shoppers called "the newlyweds"?

* 48% say they'll surely shop more if the prices get better

* 40% say they'll surely shop more if the assortment gets better

* 28% say they'll surely shop more if the service gets better.

All of which suggests that Wal-Mart is still leading the band.
