CoCreate Software, Inc., a provider of flexible CAD and
collaborative PLM software applications, has announced its plans for
offering OneSpace Designer Modeling as a 64-bit application and a
roadmap to assist customers planning to move to the 64-bit platform.
A 64-bit version of Designer Modeling will become available with
the OneSpace Designer 2006 release, expected in the early part of 2006.
The 64-bit platform offers customers significantly more addressable
model space and performance, which benefits designers working with large
assemblies or more complex parts. This will broaden platform choices for
customers who will be able to choose between either 64-bit or 32-bit
versions of the application.
In combination with Microsoft's Windows XP Professional x64,
both Intel and AMD offer 64-bit architectures which can run both 64-bit
and 32-bit applications. The 64-bit processors CoCreate recommends are
as follows:
- The Intel processor families with Intel Extended Memory 64
Technology (Intel EM64T).
AMD's AMD64 processor family.
Customers seeking larger addressable memory do not need to wait for
OneSpace Designer 2006 to benefit from the 64-bit platform. The latest
release of Designer Modeling (13.20) has been tested for the Windows XP
Professional x64 Edition operating system. While Designer Modeling
(13.20) is a 32-bit application, running it on the 64-bit platform
offers significantly more application memory.
On a 32-bit Windows system the maximum memory available is 4GB,
which must be shared between the operating system, memory-resident
drivers, applications and application data. Typically, that means the
most memory available to an application running on a 32-bit operating
system is around 2GB.
By contrast the recommended 64-bit processors and operating system
can allocate as much as 4GB of RAM to the 32-bit version of Designer
Modeling (13.20) and that address space does not need to accommodate the
operating system and drivers. That gives the full 4GB to the application
and application data, a significant increase for designers working with
larger assemblies.
Customers can make new hardware investments in the 64-bit platform
today and immediately benefit from the additional memory for Designer
Modeling (13.20), while assured of additional performance gains with the
availability of the 64-bit version of Designer Modeling in the near
future.
The Model Manager client has also been fully tested and is now
supported on the Windows 64-bit operating system.
About CoCreate
CoCreate develops 3D CAD and collaboration software for
manufacturers and their project teams who need work done today, not
tomorrow. Our mechanical CAD product, Designer Modeling, is for
designers who need freedom to create and change 3D designs without
misunderstandings or delay. Model Manager, a data management product, is
for teams who can't afford to work on the wrong revision of a 3D
CAD model or 2D drawing when creating assemblies. OneSpace.net
collaboration software is for project teams who are overwhelmed by the
complexity of a design process that stretches across sites, contractors,
or outsourced teams.
CoCreate can be found in more than 30 countries and teams to design
products, manage CAD data, and share ideas so they can reach their
time-to-market goals.
