MICRELL LAUNCHES QWIKRADIO MODULES.

Electro Manufacturing • August 1, 2005 •

Micrel Inc.,(NASDAQ: MCRL), an industry leader in analog, high bandwidth and Ethernet IC solutions, has launched Micrel's QwikRadio(R) modules from third-party vendors. The modules are designed and manufactured by third parties and can now be purchased directly from select vendors. The modules are easy- to-operate, feature a small form factor and come in fixed data-rates at standard frequencies (1KBPS Manchester at 315MHz or 433 MHz). They enable customers to quickly design new products by taking a more time-effective and cost conscious 'cut and paste' approach to their RF reference designs.

For more information regarding third-party vendors who carry the modules, visit the following:

"Worldwide, we continue to see explosive demand for innovative drop-in, RF-enabled IC design solutions," stated Scott Brown, director of Mixed-Signal and RF Products, Micrel. "Micrel's RF modules decrease time-to-market by minimizing RF and communications system variables such as RF matching, data rate and RF layout. By encouraging third parties to develop and manufacture QwikRadio(R) modules, we can help customers significantly reduce their RF prototyping cycle time and associated costs."

Micrel's line of QwikRadio(R) Low-Power UHF Receivers are aimed at the automotive, industrial and consumer markets. The modules are readily available in various dimensions down to 3cm by 1cm. The solutions are ideal for customers who have either small production runs or lack the expensive capital equipment such as spectrum and network analyzers that are necessary to design RF circuits.
