Epson America, Inc. has launched two sub-$1,000 color multifunction
laser printers. The new Epson AcuLaser CX11N and Epson AcuLaser CX11NF
(priced respectively for $699 and $799 MSRP) offer customers one-stop
solutions for printing, copying and scanning documents with
business-level productivity and vibrant, photo-quality results.
Both products are designed primarily for business customers who
work in small offices or workgroups. The Epson AcuLaser CX11NF is a
step-up model from the AcuLaser CX11N, adding a 50-page automatic
document feeder and 33.6 Kbps Super G3 faxing with color support. These
multifunction printers (MFPs) provide fast performance, printing up to
25 pages per minute (ppm) of sharp-text monochrome documents and up to 5
ppm of photographic color output. They can also copy a monochrome
document in 12 seconds and a color document in 29 seconds.
"We are very excited about expanding Epson's product
reach into the color laser market and believe our leadership and
expertise in color digital imaging will translate perfectly into
high-quality, high-productivity products that today's business
customers will appreciate," said Dorinda Hill, product manager,
Epson America. "We're charging straight out of the gate with
two aggressively priced color laser MFPs that offer extremely fast
performance, excellent ease-of-use and exceptional image quality for
which Epson is known."
The Epson AcuLaser CX11N and AcuLaser CX11NF take advantage of
three distinct core technologies:
* Epson AcuBrite Toner -- an encapsulated pigment formula that
incorporates a special resin and wax to produce vibrant prints with a
wide color gamut, accurate tones, high density, and an attractive level
of glossiness on plain or recycled papers.
* Wrap transfer technology -- a new engine design using an
efficient system of belts and rollers that contribute to the accurate
placement of toner across all areas of the page. Both printers'
duty cycles are also rated up to 45,000 pages per month to fulfill the
needs of individuals and work groups that frequently have numerous
printing projects or copying jobs.
* Unique controller design -- years of award-winning Epson imaging
products have contributed to high-performance ASIC technology that helps
to substantially increase printing, copying and scanning speeds, all
with exceptional image quality.
Easy Network Integration and Business Productivity
Epson's new AcuLaser MFPs can be seamlessly integrated into
virtually any business' existing network system. Both products come
standard with a built-in 10/100 Base-TX interface, USB 2.0/1.0 and are
compatible with Windows and Macintosh operating systems. In addition to
LAN-based printing, a "push scanning" feature enables users to
scan documents on the MFP and, from the unit's control panel, to
specify recipients who will directly receive scanned images on their PCs
over the network. Both products also come standard with 128MB of RAM
that contributes to faster copying and scanning speeds.
In addition to the numerous hardware features, the Epson AcuLaser
CX11N and AcuLaser CX11NF include an extensive package of business
software tools. These easy-to-use programs are designed to help users
save time and maximize their overall productivity by giving them
utilities such as colorful, pre-designed business form templates for
collateral materials and other business documents, scanning business
cards and creating/updating contact databases, indexing photos, managing
documents, printing Internet Web pages, and more.
Availability and Warranty
The Epson AcuLaser CX11NF are available in office superstores,
CompUSA and CDW Corp. CDW is the exclusive CX11NF direct market reseller
(DMR) through December 2005. Epson's own site,
http://www.epson.com, offers both the CX11NF and CX11N. Epson's
AcuLaser multifunction printers come with a one-year limited on-site
warranty. They are also supported by the EPSON Connection, a customer
support and technical assistance line.
"As color laser imaging becomes more affordable, it's
becoming increasingly attractive for small and medium-sized business to
produce documents in-house," said Scott DeTota, a director of
product management at CDW. "Epson's multifunction color laser
helps users conserve space and save printing costs."
