Special Recognition Award

A Special Recognition Award was presented at our Annual Global Conference to Richard M. Vosburgh, HRP Executive Editor, for his special contribution in coordinating the Special Edition: 2004 White Paper Series and for his leadership in refining the HRPS Learning Agenda and its positioning in the "strategic HR" arena.

Congratulations, Rich, for taking the journal in a new direction. Keep up the great work!

2004 Walker Prize

In 1997, HRPS established the Walker Prize to honor the monumental work of its founder and guiding spirit, James W. Walker. This prize celebrates the tradition of vision quality and innovation best exemplified by Jim Walker. It is awarded annually to the paper, article, or commentary published by The Human Resource Planning Society that best advances state-of-the-art thinking or practice in human resources.

The Society was proud to present this award at our Annual Global Conference in Miami, Florida, on April 18, 2005. The recipients were selected for their contributions to our Volume 27.1 Special Edition: 2004 White Paper Series that introduced the five HRPS knowledge areas that are the focus of the HRPS strategy implementation and drive the content and outcomes of all HRPS activities, from workshops and teleconferences to the HRP journal articles, publications, and research.

This year's recipients are:

Ed Gubman HR Strategy and Planning: From Birth to Business Results

Gina Hernez-Broome & Richard L. Hughes Leadership Development: Past, Present, & Future

Fredric Frank & Craig Taylor Talent Management: Trends that Will Shape the Future

Joseph McCann Organizational Effectiveness: Changing Concepts for Changing Environments

Jay J. Jamrog & Miles Overholt Building a Strategic HR Function: Continuing the Evolution
