GATEWAY UNVEILS 17-INCH WIDESCREEN NOTEBOOK.

Gateway has unveiled its new line of back-to-school notebook PCs including the first 17-inch widescreen Gateway notebook to be offered through the company's retail sales channel.

Designed for families, students and small business professionals, the Gateway 8510GZ is ideal for productivity, entertainment, studies and work. In addition to its visually stunning 17-inch Cinematic Widescreen WXGA display, the Gateway 8510GX provides the ultimate in mobile performance with ample battery life and the latest Intel Pentium M processor.

The Gateway 8510GZ and the entire new line of notebook PCs for the back-to-school buying season are also available at major retailers now. Gateway sells its Gateway- and eMachines-branded PCs in more than 7,000 retail stores throughout the United States and Canada.

Gateway's first notebook with a 17-inch Cinematic Widescreen display to be offered at major retailers, the new Gateway 8510GZ provides a compelling combination of features for performance-minded mobile PC users. The notebook delivers the power of AMD's fastest mobile processor available on the market -- the AMD Athlon 64 3700+ -- to provide 64-bit processing for the hottest game titles, digital media hobbies and graphics-intense applications. Gateway 6000 Series: Large Display, Mobile Essentials Starting at $749.99

Gateway's popular Gateway 6000 Series notebooks are available in three different configurations. Each of the Gateway 6000 Series notebooks comes with either a 15-inch XGA or 15.4-inch WXGA widescreen Ultrabright display that shows images in crisp, clear detail.

The systems are optimized for computing on the go with an Intel Celeron M processor or Intel Centrino Mobile Technology with an Intel Pentium M processor. Providing a robust wireless connection, the Gateway 6000 Series use integrated BroadRange Technology. As a result, the notebooks can roam 50 percent further from an access point and can operate in high speed mode to experience 40 percent greater throughput. Plus, the notebook's compact form factor weighs only six pounds and measures as thin as 1.31 inches, so staying in touch and productive anywhere, anytime is easy.

Priced for anyone on a budget, the Gateway 6018GZ features an Intel Celeron M processor 360, 256MB of memory, a 40GB hard drive, a CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive and a 15-inch XGA Ultrabright display for the low manufacturer's suggested retail price of only $749.99.

The Gateway 6022GZ features upgraded technology and a larger 15.4-inch WXGA widescreen Ultrabright display in the same sleek form factor. Enhanced mobile performance can be found in the Gateway 6520GZ, which comes with an Intel Pentium M processor 735 and Intel Centrino Mobile Technology. It also includes an 80GB hard drive, 512MB of DDR memory, DVD+/-R/RW drive and the stunning 15.4-inch WXGA widescreen display. It has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $1,099.99.

All three Gateway 6000 Series models come with Microsoft Windows Home Edition and Microsoft Works 8.0.

Service and Support

The company's extensive online support center gives them easy access to customer support representatives and information on important issues such as limited warranties, technical issues and upgrading.

Gateway offers a pro-active service tool called BigFix at no charge on all its retail PCs. With the customer's permission, BigFix identifies and sends messages offering software and OS updates, as well as offering general PC maintenance and advice. Additionally, the Gateway System Recovery solution offers all customers the ability to easily recover drivers, applications or the full factory image. The Gateway System Recovery solution provides advanced recovery capabilities that are always available, so consumers experience less down time in the event of a system issue. Unlike other recovery systems, Gateway's solution lets customers restore the factory software image while maintaining all data files stored on the PC. Back- up options and restore procedures are simple, thanks to Gateway's easy-to-understand recovery guide and system recovery interface.

Gateway PCs also come with the Gateway Internet Security Shield. It helps to protect the computer from viruses and other unwanted issues with Norton Internet Security 2005 (Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, Firewall and Parental Control) and McAfee Anti-Spyware. Always-There Recovery software restores the system to its original configuration.
