The sealed LC 182 optical linear scale measured lengths up to 4240
mm absolutely instead of using incremental scales featuring
distance-coded reference marks. In this encoder, a single-field scanning
method (vs. conventional 4-field scanning methods) uses a very large
single scanning window to mitigate any effects of contamination, while
offering high traversing speeds (up to 120 m/min) and increased natural
frequency. Signal quality remains constant over the entire measuring
length. Resolution is to 0.02 [micro]m.
