This force-based occupant weight sensor (OWS) is designed for
occupant classification systems used in passenger airbag systems to
adjust deployment based on weight category. The sensor is based on
strain gauge micro-fused technology rather than pressure from a fluid or
gas, thereby measuring the actual force of a physical object. Both axial
and flange versions are available with analog or digital outputs.
