Alaska Distributors Co.; K&L Distributors; The Odom Corp.; the Alaska Cabaret, Hotel, Restaurant & Retailer's Association (CHARR); and national beverage alcohol manufacturers have joined together to help provide Alaskans with resources to make healthy and responsible choices in their enjoyment of beverage alcohol.
Board members of the newly established Alaska Beverage Council include Joel Kadarauch of The Odom Corp., Don Grasse of K&L Distributors, Walter John and Bob Bailey of Alaska Distributors Co., Dale Fox of Alaska CHARR and Darwin Biwer of Alaska CHARR. The council's mission is to provide meaningful resources and solutions in helping Alaskans enjoy alcohol responsibly, reduce drunk driving and eliminate under-age drinking, members said.
The council will continue to develop the existing Techniques in Alcohol Management (TAM) program, a comprehensive training program that educates servers and sellers of beverage alcohol on the effects of alcohol, how to identify and deal with false identification, customer disturbances and laws, and rules and regulations of serving and selling.
Additionally the Alaska Beverage Council will continue to develop cab ride programs throughout Alaska's communities. The cab ride programs, funded by council members, provide free cab tides to Alaskans throughout the year.
