The Deutsche Borse--Photography Prize 2006 was awarded to Robert
Adams, announced Sue Davies, founding director of The
Photographers' Gallery. The annual prize awards a living
photographer, of any nationality, who has made the most significant
contribution to the medium of photography in Europe in the previous
year. Adams was selected from a group of four nominated photographers
for his exhibition "Turning Back, A Photographic Journal of
Re-exploration" (held at Haus der Kunst in Munich, Germany, June
29--September 25, 2005). The exhibition is an exploration of the
topography of the northwestern United States, as it changes from the
Pacific Coast to the open plains of eastern Oregon.
