Looking forward to a 2007 opening of its fifth Alaska branch, NC Machinery Chairman and CEO John J. Harnish came to Wasilla for a ground-breaking ceremony and barbecue. Undaunted by a typically dreary August day, a large crowd of well wishers and clients of the Alaska Caterpillar Machinery/Power Systems dealer turned out. The new branch will be located on West Rupee Circle in Wasilla, and will become a full-service facility. Marketing Manager Scott Field said that when open, the branch will introduce the new Caterpillar E-Series Backhoe, as well as feature a Cat Rental Store where customers may rent the full range of Cat equipment and other preferred brand machinery.
NC Machinery Co. is an outgrowth of Northern Commercial Co., founded in 1776 (sic) by two Russian fur traders who organized the first company to do continuing business in Alaska from a trading post on Kodiak.
