Alaska Business Monthly announced the addition of Ben Grenn to its staff.
Grenn, a 40-year Alaska resident, joins the staff as the full-time staff writer, with more than 10 years experience as a freelance writer for the magazine.
A graduate of the University of Alaska Anchorage, Grenn has an extensive background in journalism. He was a sports editor for the Anchorage Daily News and The Frontiersman in Wasilla and a sports reporter for the Anchorage Times. Grenn also was a sports broadcaster for several Anchorage radio and television stations, which has earned him several Alaska Press Club awards. He was also the assistant sports information director at UAA.
Among his duties, Grenn will be responsible for feature writing and editing, as well as helping in development of the editorial calendar and cover ideas for ABM.
Grenn and his wife, Selinda, who live in the Anchorage area, have three grown children.
Alaska Business Monthly also welcomes Barry Anderson to its staff.
Anderson joins ABM as an advertising account manager. He will be responsible for overseeing a variety of advertising and marketing accounts for the monthly publication.
Born and raised in Anchorage, Anderson comes to ABM with a long, professional career in the sales industry. He left the Alaska Journal of Commerce and Alaska Equipment Trader in 2004 where he had become the sales manager and general manager, respectively, before departing to pursue other interests.
As a graduate of West Anchorage High School and the University of Alaska Anchorage, where he earned a degree in business, Anderson has been in the sales and marketing profession in construction, oilfields, and automotive industries over the past 25 years.
Anderson, a lifelong Alaskan, lives with his son, Russell, in Anchorage.
