NAWIC.(National Association of Women in Construction)(Brief article)


Tamie Taylor of Anchorage will be the next president of the National Association of Women in Construction. Taylor was installed recently as president-elect at NAWIC's 51st annual meeting in Kansas City, Missouri.

A 17-year Alaska resident, Taylor has been active with the local chapter of NAWIC for more than a decade and has won elected positions on the national board since 2004. She currently works as vice president construction/operations manager for NANA Pacific LLC, overseeing the company's construction division. She also owns her own company, Construction Management & Organization.

Lisa Greer, member of the Alaska Chapter of NAWIC, received the national "Tradeswoman of the Year" award in Kansas City. Greer founded Del Norte Surveying (DNS) in January 1986. DNS is a certified DBE, MBE and WBE (Disadvantaged, Minority, and Woman-Owned Business Enterprise).

Greer not only has grown her surveying business, she has changed the perceptions of her construction industry peers about women working at job sites across Alaska. Today, 98 percent of the work performed by DNS is referral or repeat clients.
