The FDA granted accelerated approval to Vectibix (panitumumab), manufactured by Amgen, Inc. (Thousand Oaks, CA), for the treatment of patients with colorectal cancer that has metastasized following standard chemotherapy. Amgen will also conduct a postmarketing trial to show whether the drug improves patients' survival in patients with fewer prior chemotherapies.
