The FDA granted an additional indication for Keppra (levetiracetam), manufactured by UCB (Brussels, Belgium), as an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of myoclonic seizures in adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy. Keppra is the first antiepileptic medication proven safe as an add-on treatment for juvenile myoclonic epilepsy. The drug was previously approved as an add-on therapy for the treatment of partial-onset seizures in adults and children four years of age and older with epilepsy.
