GlaxoSmithKline (Research Triangle Park, NC) and ChemoCentryx (Mountain View, CA) formed a worldwide multitarget strategic alliance to discover, develop, and market novel medicines for the treatment of a variety of inflammatory disorders. GlaxoSmithKline will have access to select chemokine-based therapeutics, and will issue ChemoCentryx an upfront payment of $63.5 million in cash and series D financing, along with research funding and potential milestone payments of up to $1.5 billion.
