ROBBINSVILLE -- Stanleytown, Va.-based Stanley Furniture, which
makes high-end home furniture, laid off about 200 of its 450 employees
here. It blamed slow sales and foreign competition. Graham County's
jobless rate recently was 6.9%, among the state's highest, and
Stanley was its largest employer.
