PA Farm Bureau's Ag in the Classroom Teacher Workshop will be
held July 15-20 at Penn State. Ag in the Classroom is a nationally
developed program designed to help students in grades K-12 enhance their
knowledge and understanding of the food and fiber system. The Community
Awareness Committee (CAC) will sponsor teachers from the local area.
Teachers will visit farms and other agricultural production sites
to learn how food moves from the source to the consumer. The course is
taught by practicing elementary and secondary teachers, industry
professionals and university professors. Seminars focus on a variety of
topics including nutrition, ecology, agriculture's place in
civilization, food uses, integrated pest control and the relationship
between food and the environment.
Teachers earn Act 48 credits and/or Penn State graduate credits.
