Former Alaska Lt. Gov. H. A. "Red" Boucher, 86, was honored recently with the James "Jim" Doogan Lifetime Achievement Award from the Alaska Democratic Party.
Sen. Johnny Ellis, D-Anchorage, presented the award to five members of Boucher's family--his son, John Boucher; daughter, Johanna Keys; and grandchildren Ashley Boucher, Jeffrey Boucher, and C.J. Keys-at a luncheon at the Baranof Hotel in Juneau.
In addition to serving as lieutenant governor with Gov. Bill Egan, Boucher held the offices of state representative, mayor of Fairbanks, and was a member of the Anchorage Assembly and Fairbanks City Council. He founded the Fairbanks Goldpanners, which was the beginning of the Alaska Baseball League. He also is known for his work in the field of IT.
