Results from the Bank of Korea (BOK), South Korea's central bank, consumer confidence survey were released on June 25, 2007 showing that the country's consumers were feeling more optimistic than they have been for the past 15 months. Bloomberg News, which reported the results said this was, "An indication that households may spend more and help spur economic growth."

The South Korea Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) registered 108 points in the second quarter 2007, up 5 points from the 103 reading for the first quarter 2007. Scores over 100 indicate consumer optimism whereas scores under 100 indicate consumer pessimism.

All of the sub indexes that make up the CCI rose during the second quarter. Increased exports and spending by business and consumers were a factor in the rise of the sub indexes. Bloomberg quoted the BOK's governor as saying that it was likely the South Korean economy would expand at a faster rate in the second half of 2007.
