Fred Recchiuti and other produce representatives met with U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns at United's Fresh Marketplace Show in Chicago on May 7, 2007. Secretary Johanns discussed topics in the 2007 Farm Bill and comprehensive immigration reform. The visit was arranged after a roundtable discussion in West Chester, PA in April with Josh Stull, Senator Arlen Specter's Legislative Assistant, where concerns of the Pennsylvania mushroom farm community were conveyed by Recchiuti, Eugene Richard of AMI's Community Awareness Committee, Pete Gray of Phillips Mushroom Farms, Inc. and Chris Alonzo of Pietro Industries.
