Saskatoon engineer, Leon C. Botham, M.S.C.E., P.Eng., was elected
chairman of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Canada (ACEC)
during their annual meeting in Yellowknife, NWT on June 23. ACEC is a
national organization representing the consulting engineering industry
to the federal government including Public Works and Government Services
Canada, Defence Construction Canada, and the Canadian International
Development Agency.
As chairman, Botham will lead the ACEC board to further the role of
engineers in society from service providers to trusted advisors. He
plans to focus their efforts on encouraging sustainable practices;
building environmental protection, social responsibility and solid
economic performance inherently into industry and government projects to
foster truly green developments for Canada's future.
"I've had a chance to see more parts of the world than I
thought a fellow from a small town in Saskatchewan would ever
have," said Botham. "At Golder, we follow our clients.
Throughout my career I've had the opportunity to work with
engineers in Canada, South America, Europe, Russia and across the globe.
I've met a lot of great people and learned a lot about the industry
and the business of consulting that I can share with our colleagues at
home."
Botham has spent his entire career with Golder Associates Ltd.
Golder is pleased to support him in his efforts to build sustainable
practices as a cornerstone in Canada's engineering practices
through his work with the ACEC.
