Slovenian swimmer Martin Strel swims the final stretch of the
Amazon River in Brazil. with the port city of Belem in the foreground.
It's the second time Strel has swum the length of the Amazon.
spending 67 days in the water from one end in Peru to the other in
Brazil. He has also performed similar feats in the Danube. the
Mississippi and the Yangtze. The Amazon may not be the longest river in
the world. but it is the largest, moving more water than any other.
Those waters are murky and full of creepy crawlies: assistants had to
chum the water to draw away piranhas. Most people wouldn't even
take a clip in them. Strel's accomplishment, despite the obvious
toll on his body, makes clear what everyone reside knows is true: If you
want it enough, you can get it done.
