Dennis Wu: Community Service Award

Dennis Wu, CPA, executive vice president and CFO of UCBH Holdings,
received the San Francisco Business Times' CFO of the
Year-Community Service Award.
Prior to working at UCBH, Wu had a 37-year career at Deloitte and
Touche, LLP, serving as partner from 1979-04. During his time at UCBH,
Wu rebuilt and upgraded the finance staff, hired more than 20 permanent
staff to replace more than 30 temporary consultants, built a succession
plan into each company position and eliminated a SOX material weakness
in the company's financial controls within three months of his
appointment.

Wu also shines as a community member. To name a few of his
accomplishments, Wu was the first racial minority president of San
Francisco's Commonwealth Club and of Berkeley's Hass School of
Business Alumni Association; he served on the Board of Self Help for the
Elderly and has worked with the Chinese American Voter Education
Committee; and he serves on the advisory board of the National Asian
American Society of Accountants, which will serve as a mentoring
organization.
