Small-business employers are doing something right when it comes to
retention according to these findings from a National Federation of
Independent Business Small-Business Poll on unemployment compensation:
* 49% of small businesses experienced no employee turnover during
the past 12 months.
* 59% of small employers had no workers voluntarily depart during
the same period and 13% experienced only one willing departure.
* Over those months, 73% of the small firms fired no one, and 87%
were not forced to lay anyone off for economic reasons.
