The Office for Research and Graduate Education in the College of Agricultural Sciences (CAS) is recruiting host organizations that will provide advanced undergraduate and graduate students with opportunities to conduct community-based research. A Penn State faculty advisor will oversee all student research.

Penn State is dedicated to training the next generation of public scholars and providing students with internship placements. The opportunity to work on community-based research projects will provide educational experiences. Agricultural communities benefit by strengthening their relationship with the University and exposing students to potential job opportunities.

As a host organization, your company will help identify an appropriate research project pertinent to your organization or farm. You will be asked to provide nominal logistical and field support, such as access to research subjects and assistance with local lodging. Some financial assistance for travel and other research-related expenses may be required.

The goal of this program is to create a Web-based directory of research needs identified by communities in Pennsylvania or even possibly in other states. This directory will be made accessible to students and faculty members in the College of Agricultural Sciences so that students could respond to community needs while meeting course requirements, conducting independent studies or carrying out thesis or dissertation research.
