In the August 31 issue, IBO reported that Chris van Ingen, president of Agilent's Bio-Analytical Measurement (BAM)/Life Science and Chemical Analysis business, will retire in October and would not be replaced. At the unit's September 13 presentation to investors, Agilent CEO Bill Sullivan presented a new corporate reporting structure. Six business unit heads will now report directly to Mr. Sullivan. The three BAM units, Chemical Analysis, Life Sciences and Materials Sciences, generated 2006 revenues of $900 million, $700 million and $100 million, respectively. Agilent forecasts its Life Science business to grow 12%-14% and Chemical Analysis sales to increase 8%-10%. The Electronic Measurement business consists of three business units: Wireless, Network and Digital Solutions, and Electronic Instruments.
