By embedding Oracle(R) Database, Oracle TimesTen In-Memory
Database, Oracle Berkeley DB and Oracle Database Lite within their
products, thousands of Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and Original
Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) across the globe are delivering more
complete, turnkey solutions with lower total cost of ownership (TCO) for
customers. A few of the companies currently experiencing the benefits of
Oracle Embedded products include BroadSoft, ConGES GmbH, pulse and
Riverbed Technology.
The market for embedded database software continues to experience
significant growth, based on a highly diverse range of use cases,
including consumer and mobile devices, desktop and enterprise software,
large-scale networking and storage equipment and appliances. Oracle
offers the industry's broadest portfolio of world-class embeddable
database products that ranges from the following:
-- Oracle Database - for advanced relational database features in
an embeddable package; -- Oracle TimesTen - for real-time, in-memory
relational data management and caching; -- Oracle Berkeley DB - for high
performance, non-relational data management; and -- Oracle Database Lite
- for online/offline mobile data management.
Requiring virtually no human administration, these products are
ideal for developers in industries such as telecommunications and high
technology, which have demanding requirements for intelligent edge
devices and services.
"The increase in customer adoption for Oracle's embedded
databases is a testament to our commitment to embedded developers
building the next generation of applications that need to run in
always-on, zero administration environments," said Rex Wang, vice
president Embedded Systems Marketing, Oracle. "Our goal is to offer
developers a broad range of choices, so they can pick the right solution
for their specific application. We continue to innovate and integrate
our products, so that our customers can avoid the time, cost and risk of
building it themselves."
Customers Cite Strength of Products
Organizations spanning multiple industries are lauding the one-stop
support, lower TCO, and comprehensive, unattended operation as key
benefits of Oracle's Embedded product lines.
BroadSoft

wireless and wireline carriers to deliver next-generation voice and
multimedia applications that enable them to increase revenue,
competitive differentiation and customer satisfaction.
"With the market heading toward next-generation VoIP
applications, BroadSoft is looking to partner with industry leaders like
Oracle to enhance our technology in a way that provides near-term value
and longer-term capabilities to our customers," said Scott Wharton,

the BroadWorks Application Server and the BroadWorks Network Server
product lines, BroadSoft was able to accelerate time to market, minimize
development costs and help ensure massive and affordable
scalability."
ConGES GmbH
ConGES GmbH offers the MenVadis mobile inventory tracking system to
the German energy market. Using MenVadis, customers can download
real-time critical customer data to their mobile devices, enabling them
to check their full inventory and synchronize back the information.
Migrating from Microsoft SQL Server, ConGES GmbH chose Oracle Database
Lite because it provided mobile workers with access to critical
information and applications without requiring continuous connectivity
to back-end enterprise systems.
"As our mobile workforce continues to increase, Oracle
Database Lite helps ensure our team has the real-time information needed
to make critical business decisions," said Frank Vollmann, CEO at
ConGES GmbH. "As ConGES strives to expand our leadership in this
space, Oracle delivers the foundation that helps us succeed."
pulse
A leading provider of telephony solutions to the network and
enterprise markets, pulse provides application solutions to wireless and
wireline service providers. The company turned to Oracle to deliver
integrated, cost-effective telephony solutions to its service provider
customers. By embedding Oracle Database within the pulsescp service
control point product, pulse delivers a highly available system with a
low cost of implementation, maintenance and upgrades, making pulsescp a
comprehensive, cost effective solution.
"Teaming with Oracle is another step in pulse's
commitment to providing the most flexible and cost effective
solutions," said Theva Markandaier, Chief Technology Officer at
pulse. "With Oracle Database embedded in our key technology
offering, pulse can continue to stay on top of the market and help
ensure our products continually and consistently meet industry
standards, as well as the needs of our customers."
Riverbed Technology
Riverbed Technology, Inc. is a world-leader in wide area data
services (WDS) solutions. Riverbed's award-winning Steelhead(R)
products deliver LAN- like application performance over corporate WANs,
significantly boosting the performance of applications that enterprises
need to run their business, including email, file sharing, backup,
document management, ERP and CRM systems. Riverbed(R) embeds Oracle
Berkeley DB in its Steelhead appliances to efficiently store traffic and
performance data about devices on the network.
"Providing WDS solutions that deliver orders of magnitude
faster performance than what users experience today requires a robust,
scalable, and enterprise-grade embedded database," said David Wu,
vice president of software development at Riverbed. "We embed
Oracle Berkeley DB in our Steelhead appliances because it provides the
performance and scalability we need in a lightweight package that
doesn't steal away important processing power."
