Ambush journalism.

Thank you for Deborah Potter's excellent column regarding "To Catch a Predator" (Broadcast Views, August/September). I watched it a couple of times and found myself getting angry about the blatant ambush journalism that TV so enjoys. However, I couldn't quite pinpoint the logical reasons for the emotional reaction. Thank you for doing that.

While I have watched "To Catch a Predator" with interest, I have felt an uneasiness about the concept which I didn't fully realize until I read your story. You make an excellent point that the network is setting up the sleazy "humilitainment" (cute!) for us all to watch.
