NetJets aims to be carbon neutral by 2012.

Interavia Business & Technology • Autumn, 2007 • AIR TRANSPORT & GENERAL AVIATION

NetJets Europe has introduced carbon offsetting into its pricing as of 1 October. All new and existing clients now purchase carbon credits that neutralise all the carbon emissions associated with their aircraft usage.

The company says its Climate initiative will ensure that carbon emissions from all the company's activites will be fully neutralised by 2012.

The company is also investing in technological innovation--research at Princeton University into ultra-low-emission jet fuel for today's jet engines--that, if successful, can reduce aviation's environmental impact.

Net Jets is purchasing offsets from EcoSecurities, a leader in the business of sourcing, developing and trading emission reductions worldwide. The company is buying a diversified portfolio of verified emission reductions (VERs) generated from Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects
