Criminal justice & Drug Addiction journals from nova.

Legal Publisher • Sept, 2007 •

Nova Publishers (Hauppauge, NY) has begun the publication of two new journals, including "Journal of Current Issues in Crime, Law and Law Enforcement" and the "Journal of Drug Addiction, Evaluation & Eradication."

"Journal of Current Issues in Crime, Law and Law Enforcement" is designed to help professionals in law enforcement and academics resolve those issues that have arisen due to the ongoing and emerging social and technological changes affecting the enforcement of the law. Nova said that while law enforcement "seems on the surface to be a fairly simple subject-find out who is breaking the laws and arrest them-the virtual thugs are moving with such speed and daring that old-time methods are becoming dated with lightening speed."

The new journal presents the latest research in the field, covering a wide range of subject matter, including DNA testing, ID theft, computer robberies, racial profiling, capital punishment, juvenile justice, criminalizing unlawful presence, sharing law enforcement and intelligence information, federal sentencing guidelines, lower court nominations, the Armed Career Criminal Act, and the Whistleblower Protection Act.

Editorial also includes information on statutes of limitations in federal criminal cases, compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering Act, scope and patterns of organized crime, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and sexual assault enforcement. The journal is published quarterly and an annual subscription costs $195.

Also published quarterly, the "Journal of Drug Addiction, Evaluation & Eradication" is devoted to the study of various misused and, in particular, abused drugs and effects of global society. The journal includes coverage in the areas of: law enforcement, psychology, anthropology, chemistry, counseling, medicine, economics, sociology, administration of justice and education.

Initial issues include articles on such topics as: cannabis drug education; the new D.A.R.E. program; methadone maintenance; hazards associated with clandestine methamphetamine drug labs; state-wide initiatives to reduce high-risk drinking; the evolution of the regulation of the medical uses of psychedelic drugs and marijuana; state drug policy reforms; and, public policy and drug legalization. An annual subscription costs $275.
