ALM (New York), now a unit of Incisive Media (New York/London), has
entered into a partnership with Courtroom Video Network (CVN; Los
Angeles, CA), a legal news organization that provides video coverage of
legal proceedings, to offer courtroom proceedings, including live and
archived online video of courtroom proceedings, to litigators, law
firms, in-house counsel, financial analysts and law schools. Under terms
of the deal, ALM and CVN will identify major civil trials, hearings and
oral arguments for video coverage, and package and market video for use
in trial preparation, expert witness evaluation, and education and
training. The video will also be used to enhance news coverage on
ALM's Law.com legal information network.
Video and products will be available via courtroom-view.com and the
Law.com network, allowing subscribers to view full trials or elements of
trials, such as opening and closing arguments, and expert witness
testimony, along with exhibits presented to the jury. ALM said that
attorneys can use video to evaluate opposing counsel, assess witness
credibility and effectiveness, and analyze related litigation to assist
in trial preparation. Video can also be used by in-house counsel to
track trial progress, by law schools for teaching in conjunction with
classroom work, and by law firms for in-house training of associates.
ALM senior vice president Jack Berkowitz said CVN "has
extensive experience in working with courts across the country to obtain
video taping access and in the technical areas of video recording, as
well as storage and distribution technologies. Our new partnership will
allow us to combine this expertise with ALM's strong relationships
with the legal profession and marketing capabilities." CVN was
established in 2006.
