"Plaintiff Magazine" launched for California attorneys.

Legal Publisher • Sept, 2007 •

Neubauer & Associates (San Francisco, CA), the publisher of "Advocate" magazine for attorneys in Southern California, has begun the publication of "Plaintiff Magazine" with an August issue. The new monthly title is targeted to plaintiff's attorneys throughout Northern and Central California, including San Francisco, East Bay, South Bay, Sacramento, Central Valley and far Northern California. It has an initial controlled circulation of 5000, including trial lawyers, personal injury attorneys and consumer attorneys.

Described as a "nuts and bolts magazine of civil trial work," the new magazine offers information that focuses on a specific legal sector in each issue, with data on using complaints, discovery and voir dire to effectively win actions in areas such as employment, auto accidents, medical malpractice, products liability and insurance bad faith. It also includes articles on alternative dispute resolution, office management and legal marketing.

The magazine is not associated with any legal professional association and supports "those who protect the individual's right of access to the civil justice system."

Content includes articles that cover case law, case preparation, handling defendants' pretrial motions, and making "successful" arguments to a jury. The initial issue of the title included articles on: the Consumer Legal Remedies Act, surviving the early years of private practice, reviewing medical malpractice cases, applying res ipsa loquitor to premises liability fire cases, accident reconstruction, financial management, and product liability for faulty doors.

The September and Ocotber issues includes information on maritime mediation and the Jones Act, drafting settlement agreements, dealing with arbitrators, succeeding at mediation, prepring a client for a deposition, conducting voir dire, using focus groups, binding mandatory pre-dispute arbitration clauses, admissibility of computer documents at trial, appellate mediation and class actions.

Neubauer said that "Advocate" magazine (Los Angeles, CA), co-produced with the Consumer Attorneys Associations for Southern California, is the largest regional magazine for plaintiffs' and attorneys in the U.S. The title has a mostly-controlled circulation of 7400.
