The ALI/ABA (Philadelphia, PA) has begun the publication of
"Internet Fact Finding for Lawyers," a newsletter that is
designed to keep readers current with search technologies and new and
established legal web sites and online resources. It will be published
six times a year and is available in print or online. A charter annual
subscription costs $99 in print and $129 online.
ALI/ABA said that each issue is written to help save time searching
the Internet, help obtain accurate information and avoid unnecessary pay
sites Targeted to attorneys, paralegals, law librarians, law firm
administrators and law firm marketing departments, the newsletter
includes coverage of free and low-cost resources available on the
Internet and information on sites that are useful for investigators,
depositions and trial preparation, as well as company and medical
research, gathering competitive intelligence, finding expert witnesses,
and fact checking.
It also includes coverage of legal technology Web sites, browsers,
Weblogs, legal research Web sites, search engines, public records, and
new resources. Information for each site contains summaries of
information available, site idiosyncrasies, and whether the site is
free, requires registration or is fee-based. The format is based on the
newsletter's authors' book, "The Lawyer's Guide to
Fact Finding on the Internet," published in 2006 by the American
Bar Association (Chicago, IL).
