Specialist data centre opens North American
office.
With the opening of its first US office in San Jose, California,
Future Facilities aims to better support IT vendors develop cooling
methodologies for their products and reduce the risk of thermal
shutdowns. Future Facilities claims to be the first company to develop
specialised Computation Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software and consultancy
services specifically for the data centre sector. The 6Sigma DC
application is effective throughout the facility lifecycle from design
to operations and upgrade. "The ability to power and cool IT
equipment and ensure its availability is the biggest issue facing the
owners and operators of data centres and mission critical facilities.
This problem has become particularly acute as companies have increased
their use of high density equipment such as blade servers," says
Hassan Moezzi, one of the founders of Future Facilities Limited.
He added "6Sigma DC software can be used at every stage in the
engineering lifecycle from facility design to ongoing operations and
maintenance. The application facilitates the creation of 3-D data centre
designs which can be used to model the effectiveness of various layouts
and infrastructure set-ups using this Virtual Facility[c]. The software
features fully characterised libraries of equipment which allows
hardware vendors to communicate directly with facility operators. Once a
design has been adopted and built in the real world, the software
continues to be a powerful tool for maintaining operational
effectiveness as inventory changes and equipment is upgraded."
