Last month, ABM published a feature article regarding the connection between Alaska and Hawaii, with extensive references and coverage of Hawaiian Vacations Inc. Shortly after going to press, Alaska Airlines announced that it had agreed to acquire certain assets of the Anchorage-based tour company, which has been in business for 25 years. The acquisition was scheduled to close in September, while the transition of operations is expected to be complete in February 2008. Under the agreement, beginning Jan.13, 2008, Hawaiian Vacations will no longer market Hawaii vacation packages or charter flights.
Beginning early December, Alaska Airlines Vacations will offer a full line of Alaska-Hawaii vacations packages in conjunction with its daily Anchorage-Honolulu service.
Customers with Hawaiian Vacations reservations for travel starting Jan. 13 will be contacted by Hawaiian Vacations to arrange a transition to Alaska Airlines flights.
More information for Hawaiian Vacations customers is available at hawaiianvacations.com or by calling 261-2700 from Anchorage or (800) 770-2700 toll-free from other locations.
