Recent Projects: Nome operations comprises three projects located near the town of Nome: Rock Creek, Big Hurrah and Nome Gold. With the acquisition of the Alaska Gold Co. in 1999, NovaGold holds title to mining claims covering approximately 5,700 hectares (14,000 acres) in the area. For more than 100 years, the Nome alluvial deposits have produced nearly 5 million ounces of gold from shallow, flat-lying sand and gravel deposits, with an additional 5 million ounces of alluvial production from other areas on the Seward Peninsula. The Rock Creek and Big Hurrah projects will be the first modern, open-pit "hardrock" mines on the Seward Peninsula. With production at the two mines beginning in 2007, and the potential to restart production at the Nome alluvial deposits.

Recent Projects: The Red Dog Mine is located in a remote portion of Northwest Alaska, approximately 100 miles north of Kotzebue and 52 miles inland from the Chukchi Sea. Red Dog is the world's largest zinc mine, both in terms of reserves and production. The mine produces lead and zinc concentrates that are trucked to a state-owned (TCAK-operated) port on the coast. The mine is a partnership between Teck Cominco Alaska Inc. and NANA Regional Corp. NANA owns the land and Teck Cominco is the operator.
