* Scottsdale, AZ-based LaSalle Brands, which acquired
Pittsburgh's Reinhold Ice Cream Co. in October, is introducing its
own, namesake brand of ice cream to the Pittsburgh area. Pints of
LaSalle branded ice cream have gone on sale at the Shur Save supermarket
in Murrysville, just east of Pittsburgh. The new line is reportedly
being made at a plant in Michigan but production is expected to shift to
the Reinhold--now LaSalle Pittsburgh--facility in about three months.
That plant continues to produce Reinhold's bulk ice cream for
foodservice customers, along with packaged ice creams and novelties for
sale in the area. Total production at the site is expected to grow from
the 2 million gallons a year to 3 million in coming months.
