Weekly UpdatesThe Nassau Legislature in Long Island, N.Y., unanimously passed a new "green building" law for the county in September. The law ensures buildings are designed to be more water and energy efficient, and environmentally friendly. The county has adopted the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) guidelines established by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), a not-for-profit agency in Washington, D.C.
