Western tourism leaders converge in Anchorage.(TOURISM)

About 200 delegates from visitors bureaus in western states and Canada met in Anchorage in October for the 2007 Western Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus. The event was held at the Hotel Captain Cook. Organizers estimated the economic impact of the event at nearly $195,000. The group has held previous smaller meetings in Anchorage, but this year marks the first time the annual meeting was held in Alaska's largest city. Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau leaders heralded the event as an opportunity to showcase the city to fellow travel industry professionals.
