Conference on online opinion
innovations.
NCEW will join with Knight Digital Media Center to hold a
conference in Los Angeles March 2-4, 2008, to explore "best
practice" interactive models for community opinion in cyberspace.
The conference is at the Knight Digital Media Center, USC Annenberg
School for Communication in Los Angeles.
Conference participants would be limited to twenty to twenty-four
fellows/participants, with editorial writers--especially NCEW
members--invited to apply. Knight and NCEW will make the final selection
of participants. Applicants must have experience working online.
Knight and NCEW will set an agenda to identify models for online
commentary and opinion that promotes civic engagement as well as
interactivity. The aim is to define models as "best practices"
that could be promoted to other organizations.
NCEW's expertise will be tapped to develop an online module
housed on the KDMC Website and linked to NCEW's Website as a means
of assuring further reach to editorial writers.
KDMC will pay for lodging, meals, and expenses. Fellows are
responsible for travel costs. To apply go to:
knightdigitalmediacenter.org and click on the "how to apply"
button. Deadline for applications is February 1, 2008. Contact Vikki
Porter at vporter@usc.edu or 213.427-4417.
