Australian wine exports set a new 12-month record this year,
according to the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation's October
wine export approval report. Australia exported A$3.04 billion worth of
wine in the year to October 2007, an increase of 10% over the
corresponding period a year before. Sales to the UK, the largest market
for Australian wine exports, also showed value growth of 10%, with
exports reaching A$982 million. Around 291m liters was shipped to the UK
over the year. The second largest market was the United States, which
took 216m liters at a value of A$953 million. Canada was in third place,
buying A$287 million worth of wine, followed by New Zealand (A$103
million) and Ireland and Netherlands (both A$75 million).
